Annie made her first trip to Quito to volunteer with UBECI in 2017. She was so impressed with the programs, staff and positive impact they make that she looked for ways to help after returning home to the US and returned to volunteer in 2019. Annie continues to assist UBECI remotely by fundraising, applying for grants, translating documents, planning & strategizing and working with the UBECI USA group.
Annie is a machinist by trade, a construction project manager by chance and a passionate cook. She spent 15 years in the US Navy, owned a bakery & catering business, worked in shipyards and machine shops eventually retiring from a large commercial/industrial construction firm.
During her 40 years living all over the US and traveling extensively, Annie has always tried to give back through volunteering with NGO’s focusing on veterans, vulnerable populations and food outreach. She recently returned to her home state of CT where she lives near her siblings with two heathen hounds. As well as working with UBECI Annie is a volunteer cook with the New London Community Meal Center.
