Originally from the UK, Mike began his career as an aerospace engineer before transitioning to education after spending two years in Nigeria during the 1980s. This move, combined with a chance meeting with Nan, an American woman who would become his wife, led him to a fulfilling career in public education as an engineering teacher in Michigan and Massachusetts for over thirty years. In 2014, Mike and Nan, along with their 14-year-old daughter, spent three months living and volunteering in Ecuador, including time with UBECI. Mike continues to contribute to social causes through his ongoing work with UBECI and by serving as one of the Selectmen (local council) in Maynard, MA. He believes that life is too short to rest for too long, finding enjoyment in picking up either a book or a guitar during his downtime.
